13.06.2019 - A little melancholic...

Hey my friends,

I decided to make another post. I am a little bored and melancholic today. A dear friend of mine left New Zealand today and that makes me a little sad. But also that will pass. Like I said in an earlier post, you meet people on the way you get attached to and then they leave physically. But they leave great and wonderful memories behind, which will stick with you for the rest of your life. And that is what it`s all about. I had wonderful and epic adventures with him and that will always stay with me.
Also yesterday a year ago was the last time I was hanging out with my dear friend, who has passed away 6 months ago. All the memories we have and shared over the many years we knew each other came up over the past few days and made me very sad. I miss her deeply and that will never go away. But she will be with me looking down from the stars, smiling down. A wonderful thought and makes me smile every time I look up to the sky.

Work has been great the past week. I am getting my routine in and get settled in my new role. I enjoy it and get more and more secure with everything. There are still some issues and situations, I need to deal with and figure out a better way, but one thing at a time.

As an example, we do have a few issues with party people on the weekend and I want to figure out a way to get rid of them. It is not the kind of guests anybody wants. All things, I want to master as soon as possible to make the hotel a better and safer place for guests and staff.

Today I don`t have any new pics for you, but as soon as I have some, which are good enough to post, I will do so. Soon I might take another trip around the north island and that is the chance. I am thinking about getting a drone, a little fun toy to take on hikes and trips around this beautiful country. I will keep you posted.

I have this great canadian woman in my hostel. Charlotte. She is the most funny and bright person I ever met. She makes me laugh all the time. I really enjoy spending time with her. We ride to work together on our bikes every morning and sometimes home together. Depends on the time and if Charlotte is going to Countdown on her way home - every day. And at home we play monopoly (the card game), which she taught me to perfection. Kudos for that. I think we all need a Charlotte in our lifes. Last night we were having one of our art night`s and we listened to this one song by the Rolling Stones. A very good song to rephrase: 'You don`t always get what you want, but you can try and you might just get what you need." Thank you Charlotte for being you and coming into my life 😉

And with that I will end my post for today.

Enjoy your life, you only have one

Good night

09.06.2019 - Same shit, different day

Hello my dear friends,

I will continue this blog in english now, due to the fact, that english is my daily language now and of course by now I do have a few people reading my blog, who don`t speak german :)
So, a little while has passed again, and I been going by my day. Getting up in the morning, going to work and doing my usual things. Running errands on my days off, doing laundry, shopping etc. Nothing special.
Although, I did get myself a new laptop after the power cord for my laptop fried. So this great deal at warehouse stationary (a local shop for office supplies) for an HP Laptop just came to me, and I couldn`t resist. Now I am proud and very happy owner of a new Laptop. Sweet! Thank god I could borrow one from a laptop from work so I could transfer all my files, music etc. and flaten my old one. It is still working fine, but you know. It`s old. Maybe I can sell it for a few dollars on trade me (a NZ and Aussie website - like ebay in germany).

Past week monday was a public holiday here, the queens birthday. The best part about this is, that I had the day off and got paid. Woot! Anyway. I also had the weekend off and the tuesday so I went out and about with a few housemates camping up north in Whangarei (Fangarei). A beautiful little city, where we went hiking around Whangarei Falls, through a beautiful Kauri forest. It was raining now and then but it was fine. Also it was cold during the night. We did have a tent, but ended up sleeping in the car. It was fine, better that sleeping in a cold tent. For two nights we had a blast. We also went to Monagnoi, a little fisher town more north, where the best fish and chips restaurant is located. I have been eating alot of fish and chips in my life, especially during my time here in NZ, and it is the best!!!
Here are a few pics from that trip.

Work has been treating me well. I am enjoying the work. It is challenging here and there, especially on the weekend. We have alot of party guests, who don`t really treat our beautiful rooms well, but we do have a great housekeeping team, who does a great job in cleaning it all up again.
I really like my staff, they support me in many ways and I am very glad to have them. I am pretty much all set up to do my job. I did my first roster (dienstplan) for the next three weeks. Pretty difficult to make everyone happy, but on the other hand, you need to be a cunt here and there and think about the business and make sure the job gets done. Okay, I can do that. But everyone is happy, so I did a good job.

My evenings I am spending with my housemates playing card games, hanging out and having fun activities. I am enjoying my time here. It is feeling more and more like a home now.
I still can`t believe I left germany 5 months ago. It feels much longer. Just that makes me realize more and more every day, that I made the right decision to leave it all behind. Of course there are days, when I do feel wary and miss my family, my friends, my cats and cologne. But my cats will be here soon and that will give me more comfort to have them with me. I hope they will love it just as much as I do.

I will be off work for the next two days and my highlight will be getting spoilers and a light for my bike. And let`s see what else the days will bring. The weather is pretty nice still for winter. My friends in Christchurch and Lake Tekapo on the south island are sending me pictures of snow and fog. So I am pretty happy with 15 degrees and rain here and there.

That`s it from me for now. I hope you all can read this.

I am looking forward to hearing from some of you soon.

Love, Caty
