01.07.2019 - Waiheke Island

Hello everyone,

on the weekend, on saturday, I spend the day on Waiheke Island. An island just before Auckland. A beautiful place to spent hiking, drink wine and just relax. Get insanity back again. It was a great day I spend with friends in the sun. The weather was great, sunny and warm. I even got to take my shoes of and walk barefoot on the beach. Not bad for the middle of winter. The water was a bit cold, but all in all very enjoyable. We started the day when we took the ferry at 10:30 AM and got to the island a little bit after 11 AM. We started hiking to Church Bay and went back after about an hour hike. After that we took the bus to Onetangi Bay and walked a little bit along the beach. I found a rope swing and took a swing on it. Alot of fun. After that we wanted to hike up a cliff to see the sunset. Said and done. After walking down a road for a bit we got stoped by a friendly elder man, who told us we are on private property. Oh well, not bad. He gave us a lift back and we walked to Palm Beach, a little hike west of where we were. We sat down, enjoyed the sunset and after that took the bus back to the ferry terminal and headed home. We walked about 10 km in total and I was dead tired, but happy. We enjoyed a nice Pizza to top of the day and spend the rest of the day at home. I was still off work on sunday and got to pamper myself a little bit.
Before that, I had breakfast with a friend, who has been spending time with me in Auckland after his trip to germany. He lives in Christchurch at the hostel I spend the first 4 months at and he visited his family in germany and some friend all over europe. It was great to see him again and hang out. And it was sad to let him go too. But Christchurch is just a 2 hour plane flight away. And I will fly down for his birthday in October. So all good :)

Here are some pictures from our little trip to Waiheke. I hope you enjoy them.

Sunset at Palm Beach - Beauuuutiful!!!

That's it from me for today. As you all can see I have settled in and am happy. My job is going well too and I have found my groove again and have found my inner peace. My happiness. I am glad I took this giant step and started my new life. It is starting to get a bit boring here and there, but in a good way. The next big and exciting adventure ahead of me will be in about 2 years, when I apply for my residency. I am a little bit scared of that, because the immigration laws change on a regular basis and you never know what will be in 2 years. We will see.

I think I haven't told you all what my plans are for the future. Anyway, I decided to join the New Zealand Police force once I have achieved residency. Here yo don't have an age restriction for joining and they are in desperate need of new recruits. I have this deal with a friend of mine, who wanted to be a police officer in Hamburg, but now she is here and works as a barber in Christchurch. She is going the same way as I am. Same boat.

I will enjoy the rest of my evening and wish you all a great day or evening, wherever in the world you may be.

Have a good one

Cheers mate
